Pipeline runs over nala

Yakutpura: The water pipeline is precariously placed just over the drainage at the Yakutpura nala which is giving sleepless nights to the people in the area. Rizwana Begum, a local said, “Whenever we pass by we feel frightened and do not feel like consuming water.” Drops of water from the pipeline gets into the drainage but people say that is not the problem, when the water level in the drain gets above the pipeline the dirty water may get into the pipeline.

Apart from this problem, there is another issue of smell. People complain of foul smell due to the open drainage. Ali, a local says, “During summer the stench is unbearable, and we have given several complaints but to no avail.”

Shaik Salman, a resident said that because of this garbage, mosquitoes are increased, and his son suffered with a high fever and was hospitalised. Shivaram another resident said, “GHMC does not even spray medicine and it has been a long time since smoke machines were deployed.” Another resident ShafeeqAther,says, “People are ready to help provided the government comes forward. Just talking of Swachh Bharat will not do.”
