"This is a good initiative and both the police as well as the business community have worked together." -A member of Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association

Begum Bazaar is one of the biggest commercial markets in the city that was established during the Qutub Shahi era. People from the twin-cities make it to the wholesale market as it has gained the reputation for good quality goods at low price. A Venkateshwara Rao, DCP West Zone said, “34 cameras would be under the maintenance of the police department while the remaining would be under the community.”

The police department had conducted awareness programmes in the past and briefed the business community on the ‘Nenu Saitham’ programme. The business community came forward and contributed without a second though, said police personnel. Police officers say that in several places where community projects were taken up, the crime rate dropped as the CCTV cameras capture in every angle and there is practically no chance to miss a movement. Nenu Saitham meaning ‘me too’ has become successful and achieved its purpose in several areas in the city.

Raju, a businessman of Begum Bazaar said, “This is a win-win situation for both the police as well as businessmen as criminals would now be afraid and the close bonding between the police and businessmen will thwart all possible acts of violence and robbery.”
