Till the last financial year, the circles in the Central and West zones had achieved cent per cent tax collection. By their tax collection, these circles have done well contrary to expectations that they can’t reach the targets.

According to GHMC officials, the Charminar V B and Charminar V A circles have achieved 105.76 and 105.22 per cent tax collection. In the East zone the Hayatnagar, Saroornagar and Kapra circles collected 102.93, 102 and 101.81 per cent taxes respectively. The Secunderabad circle, with 106.92 per cent, was on top in GHMC. In the Central zone, which every year used to be on top in the tax collection, the Khairatabad 10 C circle achieved 103.69 per cent , Khairatabad VII B circle 101.95 per cent .

The Abids circle, with 93.80 per cent, was at the bottom followed by Uppal (80.51%), Malkajgiri (83.77%), Kukatpally (83.70%), Qutbullapur (86.19%). As many as 3,08,339 taxpayers remitted online Rs.200 crore as property Tax. Of the 1,21,019 applicants for building regularisation of 28,859 properties paid Rs.35.24 crore as property tax.

A feature this year was tax paid through cheques were credited to the GHMC account, as against more cases of cheques getting dishonoured, which used to be the cause of variance in tax recovery. Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Deputy Mayor Baba Sharfuddin have hailed the tax collection by the circles in the South and East zones.
