Hyderabad: Bedecked in bright lights and wrapped in festive fervour amidst the lingering fragrances of the traditional attar and flowers, the cityscape of Moula Ali came to life as the Urs celebrations kickstarted on a grand note recently.

The five-day long celebration which marks the birth anniversary of Saint Hazrath Ali began on Sunday with a magnificent procession that went on till the wee hours of Monday morning. Nearly 10,000 devotees across various parts of the state and country paid a visit to the shrine atop Moula Ali hills to seek blessings of the Prophet. Despite extreme climatic conditions in the city, the procession went on with full excitement and piety.

In fact, while arrangements were being given a final touch, heavy rains caused one of the sound system to fall over the roof of a shop (see photo on left) and fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. Although it shook people for a few minutes the festivities didn't halt and so did the celebration. Even prominent personalities like MLC N Ramchandra Rao, former central minister Sarve Satyanarayana, the local corporators of Moula Ali and Ram Nagar were seen taking part in the procession.
