Crop colonies introduced in Telangana
The Department of Horticulture Department announced the introduction of crop colonies in Telangana where farmers would be encouraged to grow healthy food crops and would be given a good monetary support from the government as a reward for their efforts.Â

Worth 10.6 crores, the project is said to focus on 8 plantations comprising that of tamarind, turmeric to name a few from which powder would be processed for the further development of the farm and associated industries. As a part of the pilot project, 3 metric tonnes have been set as a target under the Horticulture Development Corporation and processing units would be established in a 5 to 6 months.
Horticulture Commissioner Venkata Rami Reddy said that Telangana was the only state to be allocating nearly 12000 crore rupees for the research and development in the primary sector.
