Art and craft works done by social welfare residential school students were put up for sale at Ravindra Bharathi on Thursday on the occasion of 111th birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram. Dazzling handmade jewellery, flowers, bags, paintings, bangles, sculptures, greeting cards, candles, necklaces and beads caught the attention of officials and visitors at Ravindra Bharathi.

B Deena from Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, LB Nagar said, “For the first time in my life, I earned Rs 600, thanks to the Art and Craft club activities in my college, we have earned Rs 6000 from the sales”.

Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary of TSWREIS said that the TSWREIS promotes art and craft culture in all its institutions to encourage students to become fashion designers and entrepreneurs. The arts and craft stall is an attempt to expose students to nuances of marketing and pull the students from their comfort zones. The Society conducts exclusive Jewellery and Beautician camp during every summer and more than 500 students were trained in this field so far, he added.

The Secretary thanked the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the minister for Scheduled Caste Development Department G Jagadish Reddy for their unwavering support to career advancement of needy children from the marginalised communities under the KG-PG Mission.
