Vikarabad: District Collector Sayyad Omar Jaleel on Wednesday called upon students belonging to minority community to make use of minority residential schools and get good jobs.

He was speaking as chief guest at the annual day celebrations of the residential school for minority boys at Sivareddypeta in Vikarabad. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao sanctioned residential schools for minorities as children of the minority communities used to aid their parents in work because the parents are not able to afford their education.

The government sanctioned Rs 18 crore for construction of the residential schools. He asked the parents not to give mobile phones to students. He advised the students to prove their talent in sports also besides academics.

He quoted the example of how DGP Mahender Reddy came up in life pursuing education in a social welfare residential school. He wanted the students to emulate him. Local MLA Sanjiva Rao, MPP Bhagyalakshmi, ZPTC Mukhtar Sharif, Vikarabad MRO and others took part.
