Kala Pather: Many localities near Kala Pather and its surroundings are notorious for criminal activities and police has opened rowdy sheets against many youths from these areas. However, looking at the positive side of the coin, Kala Pather police sleuths are pledging to reduce the number of crimes in the area and to make Kala Pather a ‘Crime Free’ area in city.

This area has been in the headlines for several years for all the wrong reasons and most of the severe crimes had connections with Kala Pather directly or indirectly. Kala Pather Inspector Ravi Kumar said that efforts were on to make this area crime free. He said that regular counselling of people, proper inspection, surveillance and watchful eye can reduce the crimes in any area.

A bike rally was organised in the localities of the Kala Pather by the police sleuths as part of this agenda. It is to be recalled that most of the people in these localities are the migrants from Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar.

It has been a notorious area for criminal activities since the literacy rate among the people is very low and a majority is either laborers or associated with unorganised sector. Ravi Kumar said that Kala Pather police wanted to implement the ‘friendly policing’ policy of the state effectively and make citizens cooperate with the law and order agencies in order to maintain peace and tranquility. He appealed the locals to support the police and keep police informed about any anti-social activities in their notice.
