Hyderabad: Alleging step-motherly treatment amongst various departments, the employees of Telangana Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation (TVCC) has decided to choose agitation path.

After all their efforts to press for their demands on implementation of PRC and promotions on par with other departments failed to cut the ice with the officials, they have decided to take up ‘relay hunger strike’.

The Corporation, which once received a national award for accommodating maximum number of disabled (1993), of late has been facing neglect. “We are not getting PRCs like other corporations, DA and no timely increments. There are two pending PRCs,” said K Muthyalu, president of Telangana Vikalangula Co-operative Employees Union.

They have chosen the agitation path from April 7, where they wore black badges as a mark of protest. On April 9 they took up ‘lunch hour protest’ and on April 11, they started holding ‘relay hunger strike’. “We have been demanding implementation of 2009 and 2014 PRCs, but authorities are not paying heed. Some of us did not get increments for the last 24 years, hence we have chosen the path of agitation and shall continue till the demands are met,” said A Venugopal, general secretary of the Union.

Amongst 120 total employees working for the Corporation, about 20 are from AP and continue to work for the Corporation. During the recent years several units manufacturing Handicap Tricycle were closed in other districts and the only unit remains functional in Hyderabad, but neglect has slowed down the manufacturing. A unit manufacturing ‘hearing aid’ near Govt ENT hospital is also on the verge of closure.
