Vikarabad: Residents living in small lanes of the 25th ward of the town are unable to leave their houses following flooding due to heavy rain. The small lanes have been dug up for underground drainage and laying water pipelines. But no such work is on being taken up abutting the town’s main road. During the previous Congress government Rs.200 crore was released for underground drainage, water supply and other works under the satellite town.

With rain water getting stagnated, residents, including elderly, children and vehicle-users living in small lanes are facing hardship in leaving their houses. The contractor notionally completed the work and left after collecting the bill.

The residents are angry with officials who allegedly colluded with the contractor and the people’s representatives for their indifference to their plight. Speaking to The Hans India, they expressed their ire at the lack of development in the newly formed district of Vikarabad.
