fzal Gunj: Patients visiting Osmania General Hospital (OGH) are facing a new problem as the outpatient entrance gate of the hospital towards Begum Bazaar is completely occupied by auto rickshaws and other vehicles.

Hundreds of people visit the hospital every day and are forced to face lot of problems due to the stranded vehicles especially auto-rickshaws. The entrance is also used for the ambulance since burning ward; old building and OP buildings are near to this entrance. Stranded vehicles in front of the gate create lot of ruckus and inconvenience for the traffic moving towards Begum Bazaar and it affects the patients visiting hospital also.

Interestingly, most of the patients use auto-rickshaws to visit the hospital but problem starts when these vehicles do not move from the location and wait outside for passengers. The problem is not only affecting patients visiting the hospital but also doctors, hospital staff, ambulances’ and especially during an emergency. According to many, authorities are not taking any action to address this chronic issue near hospital. Many patients have complained about this problem. Hospital staff M Naresh said that there was a parking for the two-wheelers but little space available for four wheelers. He said that presence of auto-stand in front of the entrance also was a problem. Traffic police must take some action to divert the autos taking patients to the hospital immediately, he added.

Ironically, there is one out post in front of the entrance but police constables do not bother to clear the traffic or the vehicles parked violating the norms and creating severe difficulties for the patients. Several critical cases rushed to the hospital do not have much time and they need to be treated immediately but the entrance of the OGH remains so chaotic that no ambulance can enter the premises easily. Almost 1500 people visit on a daily basis to the hospital.
