The poor people can now access water connection at just Re1. The government came up with ‘one rupee water connection’ scheme to ensure poor people to avail water connections. The facility is now available at the GHMC office, Quthbullapur, said Satyanarayana, Executive Director, HMWS&SB, here on Wednesday.

Speaking on this, he said that the Chief Minister initiated Mission Bhagiratha scheme at the cost of Rs 1900 crores to the people in Quthbullapur, to ensure water connection. The money is utilised for the construction of reservoirs and laying of pipeline to run water down to the houses. He also urged the public not to shell money to the mediators and visit the nearest GHMC office to clarify any doubts with regards to the new implementation.
For now, almost 10,000 people have received water connection within identified bastis. He advised not to believe any mediator and said that the women group members will visit every house to explain the implemented ‘one rupee water connection’ scheme.
