S Rao Nagar: Flouting all norms, schools in A S Rao Nagar are conducting extra classes even during holidays. Achyuth Rao, president, Balala Hakkulu Sangam, said “As conducting classes during summer vacation is an illegal practice; we take note of those schools and act accordingly. The information would be sent to the collectorate office and immediate action will be taken against them for violating the norms of Balala Hakkulu Sangam.”

In the last few years, areas such as Sainikpuri, A S Rao Nagar and Neredmet have come to be known for tuition centres. In spite of warning by the school education department, the practice of conducting classes goes on unabated. For instance, classes are underway at Kenedy’s Xavier High School, Moula Ali, Vijaya High School, near A S Rao Nagar and Sri Baba Little Flower High School, East Maruthi Nagar to name a few.

The argument put forward by school management is the nature of competition and state that even parents press for extra classes. Especially, the class 10 students are the real victims of pressure with attending classes in this burning summer.“We conduct classes for the class 10 students from 9:00 am to 1:00 am with teaching basics initially and continue to complete maximum syllabus of major subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Social Studies. This helps us to start revision class as soon as possible to let students not to forget the learned concepts,” claims Principal, Kenedy’s Xavier High School, Moula Ali.

“In a fear of management being seized by the government force, we are taking classes in the morning hours from 6:00 am to 9:00 am. It is necessary to brush students and prepare them for exams to attain high Grade Points Average (GPA),” informs, Vice Principal, Vijaya High School, near ASRao Nagar.

According to the sources, Sri Baba Little Flower High School, East Maruthi Nagar, is taking classes for students of all classes according to usual school timings. However, there are few schools which are not putting their management at risk and plan to organise classes during vacation, in the fear of school losing the registered state government recognition. But, at the same time few other schools are mulling to conduct classes in mid May and also instruct children to attend classes in civil dress to avoid the attention of the government officials.
