The three-day workshop on translation and its nitty gritties is being organised in order to impart basic knowledge of translation among the students. Languages experts of Telugu, English and Urdu are giving training and conducting sessions for the state level competitive examination. The Urdu Officer examination is scheduled to be conducted on May 20 tentatively. This is the special category post created by Telangana government to appoint Urdu knowing persons in administrative offices including CMO, Secretariat, Offices of Ministers and others.

S M Fasiullah, Editor of Hyderabad Youth Mirror conducted the Sunday session and trained the participants in basics of English language and other necessary components of translation. He said that translation is an art and keeping the message of a language in other language intact was a challenging job. He said that government officers have to be very careful while translating anything from any language for official purposes.

The session was led by members of JIH. The eligibility criterion for Urdu Officers is that a person applying must know English, Urdu and Telugu and must be able to understand all three languages thoroughly. Aspirants of all age groups from 24 to 44 years attended the workshop. An aspirant Mohammed Zameer said that only one month’s preparation for such examination would not be enough. He wished that authorities must have given at least two month’s time after release of notification. It is learnt that about 2000 and more aspirants have applied for 66 posts so far. Grade-I posts are 6 and Grade-II posts are 60 as per the notification.

Another aspirant Mohammed Yousuf said that all round preparation for the examination was going on and learning workshops definitely help a lot for the examination. He said that it would be better if training workshops for GK, Aptitude and reasoning also held.
