Jeedimetla: Pollution Control Board vigil on godowns illegally storing chemical solvents has apparently slackened if the unhindered export and import of the solvents was any indication. Several have been alleging that the transactions are taking place with the involvement of village panchayat officials though several godowns have been running without licenses.

Under the leadership of district panchayat officer Suresh Mohan raids were conducted a year ago and godowns flouting norms have been seized and notices have been issued. Earlier, the officials ruled that the warehouses should be relocated beyond outer ring road in view of growth of housing colonies in the area. Setting this aside, village panchayats understood to have held meetings with the illegal chemical traders.

Nobody knows what transpired between them, the seized godowns are back to activity again. However, the local people have been demanding the pollution control department officials to take action against those who run the warehouses illegally to prevent control.
