Lack of bus shelters irks locals

Malkajgiri: How terrible it is to stand at a bus stop without a shelter especially during summer and rainy seasons. As summer sets in, the negligence of the concerned department to construct bus shelters is making people suffer in the burning heat. It is the same case with the locals of Malkajgiri, over years, residents have been suffering due to lack of bus shelter at various areas across Malkajgiri division that include Neredmet, Anandbagh, to name a few.

Recently, the areas recorded accidents wherein elderly collapsed after standing for long hours under the scorching sun and were taken to nearby hospitals. The locals claimed that they have been suffering with the ignorance of the State government. The government officials should take the responsibility to construct bus shelter to protect the passengers from hot sunlight.

Our problems were not considered and remain the same under the rule of many ruling parties. The present local Corporator is also showing negligence to address the problem. We request the State government to resolve the problem as soon as possible." "The situation is very hard to imagine even in the rainy season when people are forced to stand wait for bus," said Venkatesh.
