Hyderabad: Health Minister Dr Lakshma Reddy will inaugurate cardiology wing, cardiology out-patient department, patients’ attendants waiting hall, cardiac ICU, CT-Scan, dialysis center at the 100-year-old Osmania General Hospital here on Thursday. The hospital will extend all these amenities free of cost to patients.

The erstwhile Nizam rulers laid the foundation stone for the hospital in 1919. Construction was completed on April 20, 2019. British architect Vincent Jerome Esch and court architect of the Nizam Nawab Khan Bahadur Mirza Akbar Baig designed the hospital buildings. The hospital served over crores of patients since its inception. However, the hospital faced neglect in the undivided AP. With the advent of Telangana, the TRS government has been providing various amenities to the hospital.

New buildings are planned without disturbing the ancient structure. Arrangements have been made for doctors to see the 2-D echo cardiograph exam even in the out-patient wing, which is unprecedented. The endless wait for patients to undergo the 2D-Echo test seems to be over. A 15-bed dialysis center is also going to be inaugurated on Thursday. The patients’ attendants waiting hall accommodates at least 50 persons with attached toilet facilities and so on. Similarly, a 18-bed cardiac ICU will be functional from April 26.

Deputy CM Mahamood Ali, ministers Nayini Narasimha Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, T Padma Rao, Mayor Bontu Rammohan, MPs Kesava Rao, Asaduddin Owaisi, TSMSIDC chairman Paryada Krishna Murthy, MLC MS Prabhakara Rao, MLA Raja Singh, principal secretary Santi Kumari and others will take part in the inaugural function.
