Puranapul: The Mustaidpura Unani Hospital, which is abuzz with patients every day, is reeling under several problems including staff crunch, shortage of medicine and poor amenities for visiting patients.

The Mustaidpura Unani Hospital is quite a common hospital for the locals and patients suffering from different diseases and from different areas. The new building was constructed a few years ago razing the previous shabby structure.

However, the new building is now reeling under various problems and authorities are not taking proper measures to address these issues. The Unani medicine has remedy for many ailments as well as chronic diseases; dozens of people visit the dispensary every day.

However, lack of basic facilities coupled with dearth of staff and medicines is damaging the reputation of the dispensary. The dispensary functions under Nizamia Tibbi Hospital and provides medicines for diseases like Sinus, cold, BP, Sugar, Skin ailments, Acidity, Swine Flu, Infertility and others.

Similarly, there are solutions for Thyroid, Joint Pains, Paralysis and other major diseases.
People from nearby areas and distant places visit the hospital and take medicines regularly, said a local Abdul Muneer. He said that there is a dearth of staff and medicines for quite some time in the hospital. He said that drinking water facility is not provided for the patients. He demanded that authorities can improve the facilities with little effort.

On the other hand, people have also complained that medicines were not being given to them for a week instead only for two or three days. Hospital authorities however, claimed that they were providing good service to the patients. Hospital staff claimed that a medical camp is being organised at every slum area weekly.
