Secunderabad: In heartfelt incident, the 38-year-old Bhojanapally Jaya Laxmi, who was declared as brain dead by Neuro Physician had donated her organs that includes two kidneys, Liver and two corneas to Jeevandan, Cadaver Transplantation Programme of Telangana, at Yashoda hospital, here on Wednesday.
Hospital sources said that Jaya Laxmi, a private employee and a resident of Dayanand Nagar, Malkajgiri, had gone into unconscious due to severe headache and despite treatment for four days her conditioned worsened and was declared brain dead due to ‘IC bleed’.
As there is no chance for her to sustain her husband B V Shesha Sreedar and family members were consulted by Jeevandan transplant counsellors to donate her organs to save lives of people living on the edge.
Her family members which had initially refused to accept the proposal of Jeevandan, came to a conclusion in favour to Jeevandan after hours of counselling given about the importance of organ donation by Jeevandan transplant coordinators.
The procedure stipulated by Jeevandan was immediately initiated and her organs were donated with the consent of her husband. According to the sources, organs included kidney, liver and two corneas were harvested from the women on Wednesday.
