Manoharabad: As many as 23 Dalit farmers belong to Palata village of Manoharabad mandal in Medak district staged a protest at the office of Toopran RDO on Tuesday, alleging that the Forest department had grabbed their agriculture land of 38 acres.

The ryots said they were issued patta passbooks by the Revenue officials for the land since 1970 and had been living by cultivating those lands on their own. The Forest officials had grabbed our lands illegally by claiming the 38 acre land belongs to Forest department, said the farmers who demanded their lands back to them from the clutches of Forest department.

The farmers also threatened the officials of moving to the court for justice and even not afraid of committing suicide if their lands are not given back to them. RDO Madhu pacified the agitating farmers and made them call off their hunger strike by offering lemon juice and told the agitating farmers to occupy the lands until the survey of the land at Palata village would be done to clear the problem.

The Congress leader and former Minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Congress leaders of Gajwel and Toopran mandals also expressed their support to the Dalit farmers and demanded the government to Prathap Reddy and Toopran mandals.
