Santosh Nagar: With the recently sanctioned amount of about Rs 5 crore, the developmental works in Santosh Nagar picked up pace. The GHMC has undertaken recarpeting of the roads for the last few days and will be completing them by mid July.

According to local authorities, the works were started more than a week ago following sanction of Rs 4.7 crores from the GHMC to the Santosh Nagar division under Yakutpura constituency. “We have speeded up the works to minimise inconvenience to the residents and the work will be complete as planned. A part of sanctioned amount, Rs 3 crore will be used for Santosh Nagar area, and Rs 1.70 crore for IS Sadan Area,” informed Md Muzaffer Hussain, corporator of Santosh Nagar.

Syed Tahseen Hashmi, Assistant Engineer (AE) of Santosh Nagar, said that the works have been started in 14 lanes of Santosh Nagar. These were planned to be completed with the stipulated time of June end but due to rains, the works would be completed by mid-July. “After completion of the road works, the GHMC will be undertaking works related to footpath and table drain. All the planned works will be completed within next 3-months,” assured the official.

It may be mentioned here that Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi also conducted padayatra on Wednesday in these areas and enquired about the developmental works with the local corporators and MLA (Yakutpura), Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. The MLA had claimed that most of the developmental activities which were planned in the last few years were completed and for pending works he had promised to finish them shortly. He asked the residents to approach corporators, if they were facing any problems in the locality.
