Secunderabad: The coming days are going to bring happy tidings for the residents of Kotha Basthi. J Lokanadham, Ward 8 member visited the area on Thursday and assured the people that a water pipeline would be laid soon. There are 138 families surviving with single bore water tap installed by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board. Residents of Kotha basthi say even if three connections are given for the time being, it would be helpful. There are close to 2,000 people living here. The residents claim that they were asked to pay Rs 3,000 for the installation of water connection. “The amount is huge for us as we work on daily wages.”

Another resident said, “We sometimes walk long distance into the Municipal areas to collect water that comes just for a limited time because of the removal of existing bore laid by the municipality in Kotha Basti. The Municipal officials claim that the SCB is responsible for the supply of water.” She further added that it is the uphill task for women carrying cans of water to this high lying area.”
