Chevella: He owns crores worth land on Hyderabad-Bijapur highway, but ended up a lunatic in a dingy room on the outskirts of Kanakamamidi village of Moinabadmandal of Ranga Reddy district. The family, except the mother, almost deserted him. His wife left him 15 years ago as soon as she discovered that he is a person of unsound mind. He was identified as Mallesh, the eldest of the three children, including a girl, of Buchappa and Suseela.

Prior to the marriage, he, his brother and parents all lived together. Now that his younger brother was also married, his brother and sister-in-law hardly take any interest in his well-being. His mother used to drop food and water packed in a plastic cover into the room. As he was confined to the room for several decades, he never ventured out at least to answer calls of nature.

At least 15 blades were used to shave off his head and lustrous growth of beard untended for several years. Moved by the plight of Mallesh, residents of Kanakamamidi appealed to the Human Rights Commission to intervene and get him admitted to government hospital for mental care at Yerragadda or reunite him with the family and get treated at home.
