Seethaphalmandi: Telugu Desam Party city working president Mekala Sarangapani on Wednesday questioned the action of Minister T Padma Rao in installing ‘silapalakalu’ indicating the development works taken up elsewhere in the local Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple.

Speaking to The Hans India, after visiting the temple, the TD leader warned that the party would not tolerate such political gimmicks in a temple to attract the attention of the devotees. He claimed that the Minister had not done anything to develop the Secunderabad constituency. “Rao is washing off his hands after unveiling foundation stones. Yet it is improper to make claims of having contributed to development”, he said. Sarangapani demanded the Minister to show where he had taken up development works worth Rs 350 crore.

He contended that there was no progress in the 2BHK work and that the rythu bazaar nala and road continued to be narrow. The TRS government’s promises of providing unemployment dole, jobs and 100-bed hospital were yet to be fulfilled. The TDP leader accused the Minister of concentrating on increasing his assets rather than developing the constituency. He demanded immediate removal of ‘silapalakam’ in the temple. Among those present were Bhaskar Mudiraj, Jagdish Goud, Chanda Mudiraj, E L Pratap Rama Rao and Prasad.
