LB Nagar: The NTR flower market at Kothapet is still not attracting vendors and buyers as the centre lacks the infrastructure and as a result, vendors still head to Gudimalkapur flower market.

Though 60 stalls were allotted, only 20-30 stalls have been occupied. Jeevan, in charge NTR market, says, “NTR market was launched two years ago. Farmers either lack transport facilities or have to spend more to bring their produce to NTR flower market, so they sell at Guddimalkapur flower market.”

Laxmi, a farmer says, “I come from Mahabubnagar to sell the produce but due to improper transport facilities I am forced to sell it at Guddimalkapur flower market. Moreover, the charges for transportation are just Rs 20 from Appa junction, on the other hand, if I were to take it to NTR flower market I would have to shell out Rs 100.”

Laxman, a vendor says, “I stay near NTR Nagar which is near to the market, so I prefer selling it in this market.” Laxman’s case is an exception, most farmers find it difficult to get their produce here as the agents too flock to Gudimalkapur. Padma, a vendor says, “I sell vegetables in NTR flower market because flower vendors are few and there is ample place.”
