Tandur: At least 25 per cent of the farmers in Vikarabad district are likely to be deprived of the Rs 5-lakh free life insurance cover, a scheme to be implemented by the TRS government from August 15, since one-fourth of the farmers are yet to submit nominee forms and other documents by July 31.

Agriculture officials have been appealing to the farmers to submit their pattadar-passbook, Aadhaar, nomination form and said that names of farmers who had not submitted them so far have been displayed in the notice board at the village panchayat. Of the 1,93,122 farmers in Vikarabad district, 36,372 became ineligible to derive benefit under the scheme as they crossed the maximum age limit prescribed for the scheme – 60 years.

Of the eligible, 1,23,557 submitted all documents. The agriculture department officials will furnish the names to the LIC after August 1. Some others who owned land in the village but migrated to other areas did not furnish their details to derive benefit under the scheme. Most of the farmers have migrated to Hyderabad and Mumbai. Some others who are benami holders of the original farmers did not furnish their details. The rest of them are likely to furnish details in August delaying their inclusion under the scheme.
