Punjagutta: Overflowing sewerage on the stretch of the road from Somajiguda to Punjagutta has once again become a cause of concern for the commuters and pedestrians. With the recent downpour, the sewerage lines were choked with the silt brought from the rains and were not cleared yet.

The sewerage overflow begins at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) building up until Punjagutta police station. The sideway lanes in the area turned into stagnated sewerage ponds, the residents have laid stones in the stagnated poodles to cross the path. “Residents have filed several complaints, since past three days.

Earlier on Monday, a team arrived to dug open the manholes and started cleaning. Thereafter officials realized the intensity of the problem and started digging deep on the main road, the road is now full of sewerage and is partly occupied with the cleaning and restoration which is leading to heavy traffic in the area,” said a resident of Sai baba colony, B Ravikanth.

Commuters were forced to choose alternative routes as the road between Punjagutta and Khairatabad was severely congested. “It is one of the busiest roads in the city and any interruption could lead to traffic congestions,” said a traffic police from Punjagutta police station.
