Girl students along with local MIM leader Talha Kaseri held demonstration near Barkas on Wednesday, demanding a busshelter at main road connecting Chandrayangutta with Pahadishareef
Barkas: Girl students along with local MIM leader Talha Kaseri held demonstration near Barkas on Wednesday, demanding a bus-shelter at main road connecting Chandrayangutta with Pahadishareef. According to Kaseri, for the past two years the residents have been demanding the TSRTC and represented the matter to the officials at Falaknuma Bus Depot over setting up of a bus shelter on this road.
“Since last 2 years we have been regularly demanding for a bus shelter, as hundreds of school and college students have to stand openly facing hot sunlight, rains while they were on their way to institutions. Bus services which used to come inside the locality till Badi Masjid have also been stopped by the new depot manager. These students mostly girls have to travel on foot till main road and stand on shelter-less bus stop,” he said.
Ayesha Jabeen, a student and resident of Barkas said that bus services availed by the students used to come inside Barkas till Badi Masjid. But for the past 2 years the route has been changed by the TSRTC. Ever since the decision was taken the students have been travelling about a kilometer to catch the bus, but ironically no bus-shelter has been provided. “We students along with local leaders submitted several representations for bus shelter for the past 2 years. We have been facing hardships because of change in route and lack of bus-shelter,” she said.
S Naveen SHO Chandrayangutta stopped this protest and enquired about the problems being faced by the students. He said a letter would be given to Bus Depot manager for providing bus shelter and assured to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
