There’s a new rumour surrounding the royal family that has been making headlines all over the world: the Duchess of Cambridge is yet again pregnant! But this time, not with one baby, but two!

According to a report published by OK! Magazine, palace insiders reported that Kate Middleton is getting ready for a second pregnancy with two twin girls.

“Kate has always wanted a daughter,” a source told the tabloid, “and she’s talked about it so much that William did too.” The insider also added that Middleton’s upbringing with her sister, Pippa, was idyllic and she “always wanted to have girls of her own to carry on the legacy of strong, happy women”. She also thinks that her 11-month-old son, George having sisters will be “tremendously good for his character”.

The 32-year-old mother has reportedly been consciously preparing the young Prince for sisters, and heaved a sigh of relief when Prince George was spotted sharing toys with other toddlers on their recent trip to New Zealand.

The report said that the Duchess is now busy planning nursery details and gathering George’s newborn clothes to use as hand-me-downs. It added that the entire palace was abuzz with excitement ever since her second pregnancy was announced, and Queen Elizabeth has been putting away gifts to give the girls when they are born as is royal tradition – the new princesses inherit priceless antique diamonds and artwork.

A source added that among the many gifts is a stunning cradle which one belonged to Queen Victoria and a silver rattle, handed down from the late queen mother.

On the down side, Middleton’s second pregnancy reports have also fuelled the beliefs that she is not dedicating sufficient time to charity works as the late Princess Diana did – who managed to attend around 200 charity events a year with two young boys, while Middleton attended fewer than 40 in her first year of motherhood.

The tabloid’s source defended Middleton saying that the Duchess’ priority was to be a mother first, and that she will consider taking up more responsibility only after her children are older.

The Clarence House has yet to confirm or deny these reports.

Interestingly, other reports have bashed these pregnancy claims as Middleton was photographed drinking wine on tour in New Zealand on April 13th. A source close to the couple has also denied the pregnancy claims, saying that the couple “want a bigger family in the future, but she’s not pregnant now.”
