Johannesburg: The Dalai Lama has marked his official 80th birthday as Tibetans prayed for him and celebrated the event at his hometown in exile on Sunday.
According to News24, the Dalai Lama will be in the US on the 6th of July.
The Tibetan spiritual leader told his fellow exiles, Indians and foreign dignitaries in Dharamsala that he expected to live another 20 years.
He also said that he would continue to work for religious harmony and for the promotion of compassion.
In his speech at the Tsuglakhang Temple in Dharamsala, he said that he hoped that people will join him again on his 90th birthday.
