Depressed girl granted Euthanasia by Belgian doctors

Even though a medically depressed woman is not terminally ill, the Doctors in Belgium have given the green signal to end her own life as she has qualified for euthanasia under Belgian law.

Known as Laura, she is qualified to receive a lethal injection that will end her life. Claiming that the life was not for her, she said that she was convinced that she had to die since her childhood. Since the age of 21, Laura has been the patient of a psychiatric institution has already attempted to take her life on several occasions.

She was quoted saying that if she had a choice, she would choose a bearable life but after doing everything, it was unsuccessful. She also said that she made a few attempts while playing along all her life with these thoughts of suicide but she was stopped as she didn’t want to hurt anyone.

The euthanasia law in Belgium was passed in 2002 where people were allowed to take their life with the help of a physician if they suffer from unbearable and intractable pain. In 2013 - 1,807 deaths were recorded by euthanasia with over half of the patients aged 70 or higher.
