The name of the five godparents have been announced by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - Sophie Carter, James Meade, Adam Middleton, The Hon Laura Fellowes and Thomas van Straubenzee.

The event is to take place at the Church of St Mary Magdalene. The queen and her husband Prince Philip, William`s father Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, plus Kate`s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton are to attend the low-key event. William and Kate`s first child, Prince George, will also be present to see his sister being christened.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will walk from Sandringham House to church with their children.

Princess Charlotte will wear a hand made replica of the Royal Christening Robe. The robe has been made by Angela Kelly, Dressmaker to The Queen.


The ceremony is going to be conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, in a private ceremony and according to a press release the Lily Font and water from the River Jordan will be used during the baptism.

The new princess was born in the St Mary`s Hospital in London after her birth on May 2.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be giving a tea at Sandringham House post the ceremony.

Guests will be served slices of christening cake, which is a tier taken from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding cake.
