London: Days after at least 32 people were killed in a suicide bombing carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the Turkish border town of Suruc, Turkey's government has said that it conducted an air raid targeting the terror group in Syria.

A statement released by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's office said that F-16 jets hit three ISIS targets, adding that the decision to launch an air campaign against the terror outfit was taken at a security meeting after Thursday's border clashes.

The offensive came a day after Turkish troops and ISIS militants exchanged fire near the border, which killed a soldier and injured two others, reported the BBC.

The country will also allow the U.S.-led coalition to use a key military base near the Syrian border to carry out air strikes against the ISIS.
