At least eight people were killed and 40 wounded in bomb attacks in a town in Iraq's province of Salahudin, a media report said.

The attack occurred in the town of Tuz-Khurmato when a booby-trapped motorcycle went off near a building, a police official told Xinhua on Saturday

A minute later, a suicide bomber blew up his explosive vest among a crowd of people who gathered on the site of the first blast, the official said.

The toll could rise as many of the wounded people sustained critical wounds, the official added.

The security situation in Iraq has drastically deteriorated since June 2014, when bloody clashes broke out between Iraqi security forces and IS militants.
