Two small planes carrying a team of two pilots and 17 parachutists practicing for a group jump at a coming air show, have collided over western Slovakia, killing seven people.


According to the New York Times, 31 people were able to parachute to safety.

The Slovak aviation authorities said the Czech-made Let L-140 turboprop planes collided at about 5,000 feet near the village of Cerveny Kamen around 7:20 a.m.

A Slovak Ministry of Health spokesman said that four pilots and three of the parachutists died while five parachutists had minor injuries.
