The health hazard, cross pathy (institutionally qualified ISM therapist practicing allopathic drugs) causes to our society is innumerable. Causing risk to the life of poor patients in rural India to delayed diagnosis, unnecessary financial burden, prolonged sufferings to affecting the epidemiological understanding of many diseases in rural India, the cross pathy contributes to health care sector. The innocent people in rural India suffer the worst from such an unlawful medical practice.
The paradoxical situation is that cross pathy is prevalent only among some ISM private practitioners and not in Government ISM dispensaries/clinics/hospitals etc. Even Government Siddha clinics dispensing Ayurveda products without duly qualified Ayurveda graduate is not permitted and vice versa. The number of patients who visit the OP clinics in Government ISM hospital like National Institute of India (NIS) is quite amazing.
The above scenario raises two important questions. When large number of patients who visit NIS and seek treatment only with ISM products, why most of the ISM private healers engage in cross pathy? Why these institutionally qualified ISM healers in private practice could not treat patients with own system and its products?
ISM claims that they have drugs for pyrexia, viral infections, fungal infections, immune boosting drugs, anti inflammatory and anti analgesic preparations, drugs for all most all incurable diseases like cancer, arthritis, diabetes mellitus, drugs even to manage hemorrhagic fever due to dengue etc. When they have drugs for all most all medical problems, where is the need for large number of ISM private practitioners to practice allopathic drugs? The above mismatch raises serious doubts on those claims.
The AYUSH healers have studied AYUSH system, its fundamentals, diagnostic procedure and treatment with own products.
The question is why the Government AYUSH research institutions, hospitals, the CCIM etc., are not voicing against cross pathy? Is it not true that cross pathy is affecting not only the health care system in India but it is also the growth and recognition of entire AYUSH system?
Why these Government bodies are not issuing public notification barring AYUSH practitioners from prescribing allopathic drugs?
The question to be asked by public at large is that if AYUSH products are really effective as they are claimed, then the Government Institutions will certainly prohibit the ISM private practitioners from prescribing allopathic drugs.
It means, they know the truth that most of the ISM products are not at all effective as claimed. May be, this truth is only binding the Government AYUSH bodies from stopping the private practitioners who are engaged in cross pathy.
May be the same truth also scares them badly.
If they serve any whip against cross pathy, the large number of ISM private practitioners would certainly ask them back to list the effective ISM products that they can prescribe to their patients. Such question may put the ISM authorities in a difficult situation and also would expose the emptiness of ISM products and the promises. Otherwise, the AYUSH authorities would have vetoed cross pathy long before.
Even the fundamental question of Vata, Pita and Kapha diagnosis of diseases and their permutation and combinations, ISM cannot explain scientifically or through non subjective methods, said one institutionally qualified Siddha graduate.
It appears, truth binds and truth scares the AYUSH bodies to speak truth.
Most of the AYUSH bodies remain mute when the subject of cross pathy is raised. They prefer to dodge such question with some lame excuses because truth binds them and truth scares them.
If the AYUSH bodies speak truth, the bitter truth about ISM may surface that ISM is not drugs based system and it is paramedical wellness based system. Once such truth comes out of the bag, the status quo of ISM as medical system will be questioned. Hence they prefer follow ‘deaf-mute diplomacy’.
They continue to hype ISM. The irony is that such high decibel promotion of ISM really puts the ISM private practitioners in distress and difficulty. Naturally the patients who visit the private practitioners would expect cure from ISM products. Such situation will never raises in ISM clinics as they can refer the patients to Government allopathic hospitals.
Since none of the ISM products qualify to be called as drugs as per the global definition or scientific dictum, offering cure with ISM products is impossible. Hence the ISM healers in private practice go after allopathic practice.
The question is why such ineffective paramedical system is recognized and promoted as system of medicine?
The most astonishing fact is that the ISM experts who cannot even explain anything about the science of diagnosis they follow, science of drugs, how they act, how they get absorbed, how metals loose their toxicity during processing etc., How such experts claim they have enormous knowledge in allopathic drugs. Some Siddha healers even claim that they have better knowledge than MBBS graduates.
If they better their knowledge in ISM would be nice than claiming their superiority through narcissism.
The cause for entire confusion is only due to the attractive title they have earned for themselves from the Government. The AYUSH degree courses are named as BSMS, BAMS etc. The term surgery and what surgical knowledge they have acquired from their curriculum are quite quixotic.
One Siddha healer described that even draining the pus from small abscess is also surgery. If we ask further, some Siddha healers even say that the ancient Siddhars had done cranial surgery.
The ancient Siddha literature claims that a person while taking bath in a river, the tadpoles (baby frogs) had entered into his cranium through nostrils. The patient was suffering from severe headache due to the above. On recognizing the above medical condition, the Siddhar Therayar had surgically opened the cranium and to attract the tadpoles, he showed bowl full of water. On seeing water, the tadpoles from the cranium had jumped into the water. The Siddhar then sutured the cranium and saved the patient. That is how the said Siddhar had earned the name ‘Therayar’. In Tamil, Therai means, tadpoles. It sounds bizarre and funny. This is how the claim of surgical knowledge is authenticated by Siddha experts, said one Siddha graduate.
The question is why we bind to truth and scared of truth. Let us admit, accept and speak truth. Cross pathy proves ISM is empty. If it is empty, admit and reposition it as paramedical science. Otherwise, prohibit cross pathy and develop ISM.
Never develop selective amnesia and selective intelligence to suite to own self gratification. Millions and millions of poor people in rural India are paying their life to such social menace and evil.
We need scientifically proven allopathic system of medicine and MBBS doctors for treating and curing diseases and ISM and ISM healers for offering paramedical support and wellness care to people. Let us promote ISM as an excellent paramedical wellness approach.
