Russian steam generators supplied to Tianwan 4 NPP

According to Andrey Nikipelov, CEO of Atomenergomash, nuclear power cooperation is one of the most prospective spheres of Russia and Chine relations. “The load of all the four steam generators for Tianwan NPP in proper time means the end of one more important step in the project and provides the parties with new opportunities for implementing new joint projects’, he said.
The oversized freight is being transported by a combined method of shipping. The 4 steam generators together with deliverables and component parts for one power unit weighing about 1800 tones are being transported by rail, water and motor transport.
Steam generator is an integral part of the reactor’s circuit. It serves for dry saturated steam production. Its heat capacity is 735 MW and its service life is guaranteed to last no less than 40years. The reactor facility B-428M with installed capacity of 1000 MW includes 4 steam generators of the PGV-1000M type. The contract design and design documentation is realized by OKB “Gidropress” and IK ZIOMAR.
The second line of Tianwan NPP as well as the first one successfully operating from 2007 is being constructed according to the Russian project “AES-91”. A number of leading industrial experts the NPP is recognized as the most secure and economically effective one among those operating in the world. More than 150 Russian companies take part in its construction including a number of branches of AO Atomenergomash.
Steam generators produced at ZiO-Podolsk for the first and the second power units of Tianwan NPP were supplied in 2002 and have been under exploitation from 2007. In 2014 the Russian plant produced and supplied to the NPP all the equipment for the third power unit: 4 steam generators with component parts.
