Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s request to give his unborn baby girl a chinese name was turned down Chinese President Xi Jinping during the latter’s recent visit to the US, American media reported.

It may be noted that Zuckerberg’s wife Priscilla Chan, who is pregnant with a baby girl, is of Chinese-Vietnamese origin.

The reports say that at the White House state dinner hosted by President Obama in Mr Xi’s honour, the Facebook CEO was among the few who came to kiss Mr Xi’s ring. He asked the Chinese President if he would do him and Priscilla the honor of giving the baby an honorary Chinese name. To this, Mr Xi said “No.”

While a spokesperson for Zuckerberg was quoted as saying by the New York Post that “This was not correct,” a second source said that Mr Xi politely said that it would be “too much responsibility.”
