Mr. Lukashenko recalled that the decision to construct an NPP was taken in a tight situation as it’s impossible to forget Chernobyl tragedy. “So we agreed on construction of the best NPP. We are going to construct it at the highest level of quality, as an example to follow for others”, noted Mr. Lukashenko.

He highlighted that the specialists involved in the construction process were invited not only from Belarus but from all over the world, which means that it’s an unprecedented NPP construction which is not like any other in the world.

The president expressed appreciation to Sergey Kirienko for high quality management and tactful attitude. “I hope the Belarusians will get a wonderful NPP. And it will also be a new stage in nuclear technologies development for Russia which is the leading country in peaceful atom”, said Mr. Lukashenko.

Sergey Kirienko confirmed that the Belarus NPP is, firstly, the safest one. And secondly, it’s the most-up-to-date NPP belonging to the Generation 3+. “There are no equivalences for this NPP in the world, it’s the most up-to-date, the safest one. The absolute priority is given to quality and safety”, said Mr. Kirienko.

He also noted a good job of the Belarusian contract companies. “It’s a tough work, but they have collected much experience and many competences”, said Sergey Kirienko. He also added that the Belarusian companies both construction and equipment-producing ones will be in demand in the future in the context of the NPPs construction which are already in Russian company’s portfolio.
