The mine is operated by state-owned Heilongjiang Longmay Mining Holding Group, according to the work safety administration of the province.

The rescue operations are underway, the report said. Accidents in Chinese coal mines killed over 900 people last year.

In July, four workers were killed after a coal mine accident in the province.
