Rosatom signs Memorandum of cooperation for peaceful uses of atomic energy with National Council for Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Cambodiain the city of Phnom Penh, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development of Kingdom of Cambodia Sai Samal and the Deputy Director General of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation Nikolai Spasskiy signed a Memorandum of cooperation for the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
The document was signed in the presence of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and his counterpart Hun Sen during the visit of Russian Prime Minister to Cambodia.
The memorandum involves the following areas of cooperation between the parties: cooperation in the area of engineering, construction and operation of nuclear research center on the basis of multiple research reactors; basic and applied research; nuclear and radiation safety, use of radioisotopes and radiation technologies and their application in industry, medicine, agriculture and other fields; education and personnel training.
The Memorandum envisages the formation of a work team to determine specific projects contributing to the implementation of the collaboration. The parties also agreed to hold plan for development and signing of intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of atomic energy for peaceful uses.
