Launched by the French Council of Muslim Faith (CFCM), hundreds of mosques participated in this initiative of which main purpose was to promote solidarity and national unity. Fostering ‘national cohesion’ and sharing Islam values were last week end common leitmotivs in France as Paris mourned over its dead in a last official day, bringing to an end a week of commemoration for the victims of Paris terror attacks.

CFCM’s second idea is to set straight clichés and to break real and obvious stereotypical images of French mosques. “This is a good opportunity for us to talk about our religion directly to those for which it remains unknown, or who were given a false image of it through the media”

However, mixed results ensued from the possibility for non-Muslims to visit these places of worship as fear and prejudices remain, indeed the recent tragic events drew negative attention to the France’s Muslim minority. Though such constructive events contribute to undo the commonly believed ties between Islam and terror organizations.
