The University of Örebro, in central Sweden, stated that its doors will be closed on Sunday 24 January due to anonymous threat sparking concerns that a massacre is in preparation. It was addressed through phone application Jobel allowing students to communication within the same university.

"We cannot jeopardize the student, staff and visitor's safety", said the university on its website. According to press agency TT, students are being warned not to attend classes if they "want to survive". A complaint was lodged and the police declared that its presence around the university premises will be increased, added TT.

The University of Örebro has 17 000 students and 1 200 employees. In October, the University of Lund, in the south of the country, received a similar threat and closed down for one day until the investigation revealed there was no risk.
