Newly adopted law gives Danish authorities "the power to search clothes and luggage of asylum seekers".

According to integration ministry, "the new rule on seizure will only apply to assets of a considerable value". The law just passed Danish Parliament on this Tuesday 26 January, enabling authorities to confiscate valuables along with jewelry if deemed more than 10 000 Danish krones( 1 lakh rupees).

"Assets which have a certain personal, sentimental value to a foreigner will not, as a main rule, be seized unless they have considerable value."
