Colombo : Sri Lanka's ruling United National Party (UNP) and Communist Part of China (CPC) have initiated plans to deepen their relationship.

The UNP will send a delegation of young politicians and party cadres to visit China to study the working of the CPC.

The Board of Investment (BOI) said this will create an opportunity for human resource development to build the UNP's organizational and leadership skills, reports Lanka page.

NP chairman and Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrema and UNP International Affairs Secretary and Southern Development and Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake had a productive meeting with Minister Song Tao and Vice Minister Cheng Fengxiang of the International Department of the CPC, BOI said.

Samarawickrema also briefed the Chinese Ministers about the measures being taken to accelerate Chinese projects in Sri Lanka, new investment opportunities being generated by the government's development plans, particularly tourism.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reinforce bilateral relations between China and Sri Lanka spanning millennia, the BOI said.
