Karachi (Pakistan): Pakistan police gunned down a suspected leader of Islamic State militant group in an encounter in Mangopir area on Thursday.

In an statement the Sindh Police said that the intelligence-based raid was carried out by the District West police and intelligence officials in Ittehad Town area and a suspected Daesh commander and two policemen were injured, reports the Express Tribune.

The suspect, identified as Kamran Aslam Gujjar later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Police have recovered a sub-machine gun, three hand grenades and explosive material from his possession.

Meanwhile, police said that before his death Gujjar confessed his involvement in various heinous crimes.

Gujjar also admitted that he had recently joined the global terrorist group and did not commit any major terrorist activity under the group's banner.
