Washington D. C. : Lieutenant Governor of Texas and a Republican Dan Patrick expressed his support for deploying National Guard troops to secure the United States-Mexican border on Friday.

Patrick said that he hopes United States President Donald Trump keeps the extra defense security at the border "until hell freezes over", while referring to the illegal immigration into the US via the US-Mexican border, as reported by the Fox News.

President Trump had signed a proclamation on Wednesday to order the guards at the border. He had asked 2,000 to 4,000 troops to remain there until the anti-immigration wall is built.

Patrick re-affirmed the Trump's demand for the anti-immigration wall between US-Mexico while saying, "I hope they'll stay there until hell freezes over until that wall is built. We need the wall".

He said border patrol officers and other law enforcement can help while the National Guard does "behind-the-scenes" work and surveillance.

"Their very presence will send a strong message, as it has before," he said.
