Lahore [Pakistan]: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has on Friday reached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the hearing of his appeal against the tribunal's verdict, which disqualified him from contesting polls from NA-57 Murree.

NA-57 is Abbasi's home constituency.

The appellate tribunal, on Thursday, found Abbasi guilty of concealing facts and withholding information from voters in his nomination forms submitted for the constituency, Geo News reported.

The written verdict stated that Abbasi does not meet the requirements under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Article 62(1)(f) sets the precondition for a member of parliament to be "sadiq and ameen" (honest and righteous).

Abbasi vowed to challenge the court's verdict, saying, the appellate court did not have the authority to disqualify a person for life, adding that he was disqualified on the issue of the market value of his assets, especially house, which his father had purchased in 1974.

Abbasi stressed that he would use his right to appeal and contest the election from the same constituency, which is scheduled on July 25.
