Jammalamadugu (Kadapa): “The Seemandhra region is not in a position to lose Hyderabad capital. The region had already incurred heavy loss by sacrificing Kurnool as the state capital and secondly by losing Bellary, rich with minerals. Hence, there is a great need to intensify the agitation for keeping the State united,” stated Jammalamadugu MLA Adinarayana Reddy.
He took part in the relay hunger strike of the employees of animal husbandry department at the old bus stand centre in Jammalamadugu on Thursday. He said minimum 5,000 persons from Jammalamadugu must take part in the Millennium March at Hyderabad.
YSRCP leader and MLC Devagudi Narayana Reddy, former municipal chairman Suryanarayana Reddy and others also extended their support to the agitators.
Meanwhile, the Rayalaseema Vidyut Power Plant employees boycotted duties, closed the gates and staged dharna at RTPP in Yerraguntla mandal on Thursday. The mechanics of Rayachoti performed ‘Chekka Bhajana’ and held a rally supporting the strike of the employees of electricity department. Later, they held Vanta Varpu at Netaji Circle. APSRTC workers took out a rally from RTC bus stand wearing leaves to Tahsildar office.
Muslims held a rally dressed as Tippu Sultan, Mahatma Gandhi, Chatrapati Shivaji and other historical persons in Duvvur town and later held separate rallies with bullock carts and bikes. Electricity employees of Kadapa town held a rally before taking part in the 72-hour strike. Employees and Teachers JAC convener Narayana Reddy stated that they have decided to intensify the agitation as there is no response from the Central government.
A meeting was held at DCCB hall in Kadapa town on Thursday with teachers and employees JAC leaders. Narayana Reddy said they have taken resolutions to make the students partners in the agitation, to close all educational institutions from KG to PG level, indefinite closure of all Central government offices, to organise a public meeting and millennium march in Rayalaseema, to enlighten the common public and to demand the people’s representatives to resign for their posts.
