Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar said that they have prepared a plan for the development of sports in the university. A mini-stadium would come up on the campus and next inter-collegiate tournaments would be conducted in it, he assured.
Nalgonda: Mahatma Gandhi University Registrar Dr Umesh Kumar on Wednesday informed that a mini-stadium would be constructed on the premises of the university within one year period. Dr Umesh Kumar has attended the valedictory function of University Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi tournaments for women and distributed the prizes to the winners.
Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar said that they have prepared a plan for the development of sports in the university. A mini-stadium would come up on the campus and next inter-collegiate tournaments would be conducted in it, he assured.
“In addition to this, Department of Physical Education would be launched in the university from the next academic year,” he disclosed.
Regional Joint Director of Degree Colleges Dharjana said women excel in games and there was a need to encourage girl students to take part in sports and games.
Tournaments convener Krishna Reddy requested the Registrar to take steps to release the sports calendar in the beginning of the academic years to help players practice well.
Meanwhile, in the two-day tournaments, host Government Women’s College, Nalgonda stood in first place and Vidhya Bharathi College team bagged second followed by N G college of Nalgonda third.
Among the participants, 16 were selected for probable kabaddi team of MGU, which would participate in national-level south zone inter-collegiate tournaments that would be conducted at Coimbatore in Tamilnadu.
